Y island is about You, and giving You a cool way to find Caribbean Events. How do we do that? We haven’t figured out that part as yet, but every month expect something new. Everything on the Island is done at Caribbean time, so you know what that means.
But Seriously – Why we built Y island?
Y island was designed to promote Caribbean Events in a way that is beneficial first to the partygoers (the EventFull), then to the promoters.
For the EventFull ( i.e the Partygoers, Limers, Yardies, and all lovers of Caribbean entertainment)
Many promoters and events get our support, our love, and most important – our money. And what do we get, “A drink by the bar”.
So the plan is as follows. Y island promises:
- To give you a new way to search for Events
- Not to take your time away from Facebook or MySpace
- Never to send you an email about an event you may not be interested in. (We will definitely try our best. Tell us if we mess up. )
We have a lot more promises to add to that list. But first you have to tell us what you want.
In short, Y island wants to give you a cool way to see events and a new way to decide “what event to go to”. It’s that simple and we are here to make it fun. So tell us what fun, cool, or important things you want on the site. Then we will make the necessary changes.
For the Promoters
Though we put you second, we love you too…. nah, not really. However, without you, we the people would have no Fun.
So Y island started the Y island Project to help promoters advertise their events to the right audience. Everyone in the world cannot come to your event, but the Project will try to:
- show you tips and tricks to get your event to the RIGHT audience
- and show you how not to waste time or money on poor advertising.
To get started, add your event to Y island and we will take it from there.
What the Y stands for?
To the surprise of many (or not), the Y in Y island stands for “Your”. Yes, it means Your island, and was coined from the idea of promoting your Caribbean Vibe and your Caribbean Entertainment. But to You, the Y can mean whatever you want it to be – Your, Yellow, Yeah-man, Yesterday, Yahoo (yeah right, we wish) etc.
Remember this site is all about you and what you want.
